The foundation for Wesley Church was laid in December 1857. The completed church was opened in August 1858.

We will celebrate 150 years of worship and work in this Church building on 31st August 2008.

The Celebration service

Sunday, 31st August, at 2.00 pm.

A special service of celebration, attended by the Governor of Victoria, his Excellency Prof David de Kretzer and Mrs de Kretzer. The preacher will be the ex-Moderator, Rev Sue Gormann. Our musical Director, Mr Geoff Urquhart is preparing special music with the choir, and the Gospel Hall choir will also be involved. Former members of Wesley are especially invited back to this celebration.

The service will both recall and honour the significant achievements of the past, and name the new and different challenges before us in the present.

Recalling the Story of Wesley Church

We are publishing a 100-page book entitled "In Celebration of Faith: stories and photos through 150 years at Wesley Church Melbourne". It is written by Rev Bill Gillard, and will include many previously unpublished photographs.

This booklet will be released at the service on August 31st, and will be available for purchase on the day.

The cost is A$10.00, plus A$5.00 for postage within Australia. You can obtain a copy by contacting the Church Office (phone: (03) 9663 2935, email: ).
